I was born and raised in The Netherlands. After I bought my first DSLR camera, a Canon 600D, more than ten years ago, I rediscovered my hometown of Dokkum in a very different way, through the lens of my camera.

During tulip season, I took the first photo with the windmill and tulips. This photo quickly went viral on Pinterest, where it was shared more than 1,600 times many years ago.

The second photo was captured a few days before Christmas during blue hour. The reflections in the water, the Christmas lights, and the decorations make the city look even more beautiful.
